PRESENTATION: Good oral health is key to overall wellness and recovery for those with substance use disorders. During this panel discussion attendees will increase their awareness about the many oral health related concerns those with substance use face as part of their recovery. The panel will provide effective management strategies and treatment options using an interprofessional patient centered approach.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Recognize how oral health issues affect individuals in recovery.
- Identify the new guidelines for the NH Medicaid program that increase the adult population in recovery eligible for dental care.
- Identify strategies to improve oral health for those in recovery.
ABOUT THE PRESENTERS:
Keith Howard, MEd is the Executive Director for Manchester’s Hope for New Hampshire Recovery. He is a member of the Governor’s Commission on Alcohol and Other Drugs and chairperson of the New Hampshire Recovery Monument Commission.
Gale Brown, Esq., MSW is the Director of the NH Oral Health Coalition. She has been in this role since 2010 providing advocacy and policy development for a coalition dedicated to advancing oral health policy and services.
Sarah Finne, DMD, MPH is the Medicaid Dental Director at New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services based in Concord, New Hampshire. She has been in this role for 8 years.
Jay Mailet, DMD, MPH is the Associate Dental Director at DentaQuest Northeast region covering the states of MA, NH, and NY providing expertise in clinical dentistry for state Medicaid programs including MassHealth and the New York State Medicaid Program.
Joseph V. Errante, DDS is the Vice President for Network and Clinical Strategies at Northeast Delta Dental. Dr. Errante has experience spanning an almost 40‐year career in dental benefits, dental practice management, and multi‐specialty medical practice management.
Dennis Hannon, DDS is a retired Oral Health Surgeon, past Vice President, the NH Board of Dental Examiners and past Board of Directors Delta Dental Plan of NH. During his many years as an oral surgeon, he treated many patients in recovery with dental concerns.
