PRESENTATION:  This 3 hour training is created for addiction professionals and other service providers interested in improving skills & increasing knowledge in the area of Cognitive Behavior Theories and Approaches to Change. This training will highlight 2 specific types of CBT approaches applicable to combating underlying issues common to clients with SUD history:  rejection & abandonment, and toxic relationships - issues often at the helm of initial substance misuse as well as relapse of substance use.  As a result of this training,  participants will be able to:
  • Describe 2 specific types of cognitive behavior therapy approaches, their differences and similarities as well as implementation in the treatment of alcohol and other drug addiction.
  • Assist clients in identifying toxic relationships, rejection and abandonment as common underlying issues attributing to substance use relapse.
  • Apply specific CBT techniques to address the identified issues and enhance the client’s chances of ongoing recovery.

    ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Pamela Morgan, MBA/BSHS/CADC/CPRM is a nationally known trainer and substance use professional - providing services since 1993. She is the owner of Key Insights, LLC., an approved professional development training provider with the Michigan Certification Board of Addiction Professionals. Pamela has also provided trainings approved by certification boards in Iowa and Georgia. A published author on toxic relationships, Pamela is best known for her interactive training style and her training-Toxic Relationships: Another Addiction.  She has developed various trainings with topics including: Ethics, Boundaries & Confidentiality; Addiction to Crime; Enhancing Motivation for Change; Recovery, Relapse and the 12 Steps; and Addiction in the Church. With 29 years of personal recovery, over 23 years of experience working within treatment, prevention, correctional and adolescent populations, and more than 19 years providing professional development training, Morgan offers a wealth of personal and professional experience.
