SOR Scholarship Application
PRESENTATION: This three-hour training will examine the history of women in service and the unique challenges they face, such as transitions, branches and components where women serve, treatment considerations, and community resources. Two questions that will be addressed and up for discussion are:
- What barriers exist and what strategies may be helpful for engagement/assisting female veterans to access care?
- What are some common Transition challenges faced by female Service Members and Veterans?
As a result of attending this training, participants will:
- Increase understanding of the female service member, veteran, and culture
- Be able to list at least 2 specific challenges this population encounters
- Be able to list at least 2 specific challenges this population encounters upon returning from deployment and after discharge.
ABOUT THE PRESENTERS: Sheena Bice, LCMHC, MLADC, CCTP, CSOTS holds a master’s degree in mental health counseling from New England College. She has work in community mental health, private practice and within the corrections system providing mental health and addiction treatment to female offenders. She currently works as the Vice President of Clinical Operations for Veteran and First Responder Healthcare in Manchester, NH. Her focus is on providing trauma informed care to first responders, veterans, service members and their families. She serviced in the United States Marine Corps and is a proud military spouse.
