1 Hour Webinar Training with Ann Duckless, MA

PRESENTATION: Community members (gatekeepers) can play a role in preventing suicide. A gatekeeper is anyone who may have contact, even inadvertently, with a person at risk of suicide; therefore, essentially everyone is a gatekeeper. When gatekeepers have key information on how to recognize the warning signs of suicide and connect with a person at risk to get them appropriate help, the safety net for citizens in the community is strengthened.  This Connect Program webinar training, designated a National Best Practice program, was designed to increase the competence and confidence of community members in preventing suicide.

As a result of this training participants will:

  1. Gain knowledge of National Best Practices for community response to suicide thoughts, disclosures, and attempts
  2. Learn the risk and protective factors and warning signs for suicide
  3. Gain insights into suicide data and how age, gender, culture and other demographic and diversity factors impact suicide risk
  4. Learn skills for intervening with community members at risk and connecting them with appropriate resources
  5. Gain awareness of community resources and services and how they can be utilized for persons at risk
