PRESENTATION: With the opioid crisis directly impacting all populations across New Hampshire, it is not surprising that the most vulnerable population, those who are experiencing homelessness, are hardest hit. Whether a provider is in a treatment setting or working in a social service agency, all stakeholders need to increase their understanding of the impact of OUD and opioid misuse on the homeless population. This workshop will provide an understanding of the prevalence of this issue, challenges to providing services to those with OUD and homelessness in diverse settings and provide evidenced based solutions to develop and implement interventions and response strategies.

As a result of attending this training participants will:

• Participants will learn the prevalence of OUD and Opioid misuse among individuals experiencing homelessness.

• Workshop will highlight the challenges in serving individuals with OUD and Opioid misuse among individuals experiencing homelessness.

• Participants will learn three key strategies utilized in screening/assessment, treatment and recovery for individuals with OUD and opioid misuse experiencing homelessness.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Stephanie Allain Savard is the Chief Operating Officer of Families in Transition – New Horizons and a New Hampshire Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Stephanie has been working on the issue of homelessness, poverty, substance use and trauma disorders for almost 25 years. At Families in Transition – New Horizons, Stephanie provides oversite and development of all operational aspects of the agency, day to day leadership and management for implementation of the mission and core values of the agency, engages in key community, state and local government relations, as well as provides support with the organization’s strategic plan development and implementation.

Meghan Shea is the Vice President of Clinical and Supportive Services of Families in Transition – New Horizons. Meghan is a New Hampshire Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a Master Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor. With her Masters and dual licensure, Meghan Shea has specialized in substance use disorders, homelessness, gender-specific treatment, trauma, suicide prevention/post-vention, case management and clinical supervision.
